movie snacks
Important public information broadcast:

Dots are my preferred movie snack. I like to get to the theater with enough time to dump the whole box out into my lap and put them back in, favorite colors first. That way, I can eat the yucky green ones before the movie even starts, and by the end of the movie, only delicious red and pink ones are left.

Thank you for your attention.

Why eat candy you don't like?

It's the elves. They're relentless. Can't you hear them?

To give you a chance to ask questions like this.

if you do not eat the candy you do not like, you have not EARNED the candy you like.

(why yes, I am Canadian.)

How can you have any pink, if you don't eat your greens! (w/apologies to Pink Floyd)

Movie snacks are a very personal choice!

My personal favorite, a holdover from when I lived in Hawaii, is this: http://www.aliyaleekong.com/popcorn-homemade-furikake/ Sadly, it doesn't seem to be available at movie theaters here.

Seems like you could accomplish this by carrying a jar of shake-on furikake with you, no?
m.entrope on April 23rd, 2012 06:58 pm (UTC)
Yes, and a bag of rice crackers. Doable, but a little unwieldy.

Junior Mints, or Milk Duds FOR LIFE!
ruthless compassion: tastyaroraborealis on April 23rd, 2012 07:08 pm (UTC)
Junior Mints are the runner up!

But there's no point in sorting them, so it's not the same.
Brother Claymore of Desirable Mindfulness: mai tailifecollage on April 24th, 2012 02:36 am (UTC)
Ah, but there is sorting of the blessed mints...into those which are still whole and individual, and those which have broken and congealed their minty centers into a singular, sticky, amazing mass of pure Awesome.

You eat the first sort, one by one, and save the lump for the apex of the film.

Heretic! Twizzlers are the One True Movie Candy, except sometimes Jujubes and then Dots.
The Hebrew Hammercockhammercock on April 23rd, 2012 07:43 pm (UTC)
Ooh, yes, Twizzlers. Except if I'm in a country where I can get ahold of Jaffas.

I am a sour patch kids person, myself.

My kind of OCD
I like you so much
Kcatkcatalyst on April 23rd, 2012 07:05 pm (UTC)
I will take the tasty tasty green ones in exchange for your pink ones, which are clearly inferior.
Kcatkcatalyst on April 23rd, 2012 07:05 pm (UTC)
Er, not to say that YOUR pink ones are inferior. I think very highly of your pink ones. But pink dots are inferior. I mean... Oh, nevermind.

This sounds like an excellent division of the spoils.

Maybe that's just the garlic-flavored Dots.

I really wish I hadn't taken that gulp of coffee before hitting this comment.

I bring my own buttered popcorn, from home. Seb notes that this is one of the few areas of life in which I consistently, flagrantly disregard the rules. I contend that any rule which excludes delicious popcorn in favor of stale popcorn with artificial butter flavor is lacking in moral authority.

I knew I liked you...

Go you!

Me, I felt sick the last times I ate popcorn or Junior Mints in a theater -- too many carbs for my current way of eating -- so now I smuggle in cashews, beef jerky, and water. (If they *had* decent low-carb options or unsweetened iced tea, I'd buy 'em, but no such luck. And four bucks for a bottle of water is just silly.)

Ha! I do this with Skittles, including sometimes embarrassingly large bags. Yes, that is a pound of Skittles I'm sorting this afternoon. Thanks for asking.
