If you were a kitchen utensil, what would you be, and why?

Stainless steel spatula/flipper. You know, the one you reach for whenever you need some generic implement...

Jack of all trades, master of none.

I'd be a serving spoon. Good for serving a crowd, and also will do in a pinch as a ladle or to whack or pry a stuck lid. Also, round and shiny!

My instinct was silicone stirring spatula, the kind that's one whole piece, rather than a relatively rigid head on a wooden body. The one we have has nice curves and good at cleaning up the stuck bits without being too abrasive. It's flexible but not a push-over.

OK. That seems ridiculously appropriate. I am a spatula.

Also, I do tend to stir things up if left to my own devices. Mwahahaa

Chef's knife. Sharp, weighty, useful. Considered intimidating by the unfamiliar, but indispensable to those who know its strengths.

+1!

If I _were_ a kitchen utensil? Heck, I _am_ a kitchen utensil!

Alright, I'd be a nice sharp veggie peeler. It's one of the few items in my kitchen drawer that has a name ("trusty rusty".)

I'm totally a jar opener. Stronger than you'd think!

I want to say "runcible spoon," but that's only because I like the word "runcible."

Does a Ball jar count as a utensil?

If not a jar, then I'd be a whisk.

Sure, a ball jar can count!

Good quality chef's knife, without a doubt.
- basic necessity in the area,
- deceptively simple in design,
- sharp *and* pointed,
- multi-, practically omni-cultural,
- inaccessible and indeed a little scary to newbies, but
- significant up-front investment pays off in the long run, and
- a little constant tending makes heavy-duty maintenance a very rare thing.

I wonder what someone who knows me would say? Or someone who knows me only online?

I would be a silpat because I'm frequently used in baking and the production of candy.
Also, most things will not stick to me.

I'd be a potholder because I'm good at handling hot things...
