A single lung is also do-able. Not recommended, but do-able.

Good point!

Adenoids. Teeth. Spleen. Large portions of the reproductive system. Hair, but that probably doesn't count. :)

Limbs and eyeballs, but those often call for prosthetics afterwards.

I think I'd reverse 2 and 3.

I debated that!

Really? I had my gall bladder out and it was pretty trivial. I don't miss it at all. Kidneys are a bitch to remove.

if you're under six, you'll do fairly well with lossage of up to one brain hemisphere. after that, not so much.

tonsils are quite survivably disposable throughout the lifespan.

Re: the brain: Wow, really? That's fascinating!

Re: tonsils: I decided those aren't organs.

brains: yes. it's been done for intractable epilepsy. it generally results in some cross-side weakness, but not as much as you might think, and it beats having constant seizures, of course.

tonsils: glands aren't organs? okay. what makes something an organ?

skin! (small portions, only, of course)

My uncle has very little of his colon left. People voluntarily have portions removed of the stomach, or for that matter, breast tissue.

tonsils? I don't see those on the list? Adenoids as well, I suppose.

The spleen? (Peter Forsberg as an example...)

Depends how one defines "organ" I suppose
I know a couple people who are surviving OK without a thyroid gland. I guess it depends a good deal on the amount of outside medical intervention one can access and tolerate.

My dad has half a pancreas, which I didn't know was an option until it was relevant! I don't know if you can do without the whole one, though.

You can lose your whole colon, or your stomach, or your esophagus. You pretty much need your small intestine but not as much as you have, so you can cut out a few feet of that too.

One lung, one kidney, uterus and ovaries if you aren't using them. Thyroids replaceable with medicine now. Cheney went without a heart for about two years though it took a toll on him. You can go pretty bionic these days!

I can't decide which sarcastic political response I want most to use. There are two top contenders plus a gaggle of lesser contestents.
