Re: How I want you
I also read it as sweet and lonely, because I too saw the clear respect for boundaries in it. This is someone voicing a longing in a context that doesn't impose that longing on the person in the slightest. And I know very few people who haven't felt that kind of longing at sometime or another.

(Also a cis woman)

Re: How I want you
I'll go further and say that I think confessions like this reduce the net creep factor in the universe because it reinforces a concept stalker, rapists and other bad guys seem to often forget: that it is possible to have strong feelings and NOT ACT ON THEM. This post helps counter that famous excuse: "I just couldn't help myself". To which my answer is always: bullshit. Of course you could have. You chose not to. But this guy, whoever he is, he knows his strong feelings don't justify anything at all; that he alone is 100% responsible for his actions and their impact on others, no matter how much he wants something he can't have.

In the real world we rarely get to see examples of people NOT acting on their desires, because non action is inherently invisible. So I find it reassuring and anti-creepy to get a rare view into someone doing what more people should: keeping their feelings to themselves.

So, hat tip to you, OP.

OP poster here.
Thank you. Thank you all who didn't assume I was a monster.
I respect the person I wrote about in every way, including "to leave alone."
I was horrified when I found out what other people thought and felt.
Thank you for reassuring me that that isn't universal.
