But I finally made it to Boston, where eveandodd, miss_chance, and totient met me at the airport and my suitcase came through, and there was *delighted gasp* snow! So it ended well.
The trip itself was really fabulous. I look forward to returning to France when I speak more French, but even so, enough people there speak English that I did okay. We had delicious ice cream, yummy crêpes, mouth-wateringly good duck, foie gras, pate, bread, cheese, caviar and other delicacies... yes, a lot of this trip revolved around food. And it was Good.
I also enjoyed the Eiffel Tower, a long, wet wander around Paris, a concert of 12th century sacred music in Notre Dame (mmmm. Gregorian chants and reverb!), the Pantheon, Shakespeare's Books, the Chantilly Castle, and... lots of other stuff.
Needless to say, there's loads of stuff I didn't get to that I'd like to, so... I guess I'll just have to go back. Oh, the horror. :) The timing was incredibly good; I managed not to think much about Stuff back here, so it was a true vacation, in that sense. Huzzah.
It's very nice to be home. The trip was in excellent; I can't thank kcatalyst and trom enough for inviting me to join them in their family celebration and trip. It was really fun to get to spend real time with darthsunshine . And, of course, this is just further confirmation that my addiction to travel isn't going to go away :)
