whining!

My new icon (shiny!) has inspired several discussions in the past few days, and now I ask you all:

How do you define "whining"? Does it bother you? Do you do it?

I generally think of whining as a kind of complaining that shirks personal responsibility for a situation. Complaining, I can deal with, if you're working to change what you don't like, or if what you don't like isn't really fixable. Whining? Not so much. When I catch myself whining, I smack myself and set about making changes.
