One of the hardest parts about a bout of insomnia is recognizing that I am not, in fact, going to fall back asleep if I stay in bed, and then prying myself out of the (cozy, warm) bed to go be somewhere else for a while in hopes that when I return to the bed, after a change of scene, I will be able to sleep.

And also figuring out how long I should spend in the somewhere else.

And also the incredible frustration of it all. Insomnia is the ultimate in maladaptive patterns.
