"Not needing surgery" - if you have appendicitis, having surgery is much better than not having surgery.

Good point. Since I've just been reading about the (high) success rate of active-isolated stretching programs in cases where joint surgery is often indicated, how about "not having surgery that isn't REALLY needed"?

Any existing, safe alternative to surgery that WORKS for the given diagnosis and has the same or better outcome than surgery would have .....

Not being sick or injured anymore after surgery is better than surgery.

"Hypno-Cryogenics with time-stream regression in a chrono-stasic-protected capsule ... "

They fix whatever you need to with far better tech and send you back without you even realizing you were gone.

Vicodin and puppycam are better than surgery. Those being the two things that most aided my recovery after surgery last fall.

Being taken out for a well-planned picnic lunch under the cool shade of an umbrella, close enough to the water to dip your toes while lounging in the shade eating various exotic and tasty prepared foods and drinking cool alcoholic beverages is really much better than surgery.

Luckily, the picnic is considered an elective. I wish the surgery was, too.
