No, although there have been several times when I've wanted to send a quick text saying, "Running late! Be there in five!".

No, but I sometimes get automated alerts via SMS text regarding the health of my servers, which give me a vital 'heads-up'. I'd get them via e-mail, but since I run e-mail servers I need another communication channel if they're down.

And, since the texts tell me to go do work, they're kinda like my boss . . . right . . . like my robot overlord bosses?

That sounds like a dangerous road you're on, there ...

He did tell me to cut it out... when i used it for work... he thought spam came from it as it wormed its way through wierder tubez.

tho most of my peeps are kind of like luddites, so not often, and sometimes for personal notes, like OMG I saw this boom on money that you would totally love..

No, but we've re-tweeted each other. :-)

(I don't think I can SMS him because he's not in the US.)

My employees text message me frequently, including to call out sick. However, I never talk to my boss that way.

Yes, I have received texts from interns, but would never think to text my boss. Was shocked to receive a text from her yesterday. (In a good way, but still.)

It isn't our usual way of communicating...maybe just once or twice...in the vein of "be there in 5 minutes" or "I know you are in a meeting, please call me when you are available"

Or, well, maybe not. We communicate via IM a lot, which is as close as I ever come to texting.

About 3 minutes ago. In a meeting he was also in. Across the table from me.

Not often. Mostly to coordinate locations and stuff when we visit HQ together.

I am my own boss, so that'd just be silly (and god knows, I'm never silly). ;) ...but I never texted my advisor that I can recall, who was pretty boss-like.

I regard communicating with my boss by *phone* as novel.
Coscos on December 11th, 2009 04:08 am (UTC)
By text, and also by IRC. And both also are true for my boss at my previous job, and at the one before that.

Yes, a lot
My wife and my g/f tease me that I text more with my boss than I do with them. He compulsively texts while he's on boring conference calls.
