Ahh, the LotR trilogy is so much more enjoyable if I skip all the boring scenes involving Frodo, Sam, and Gollum!
I'm feeling: cheerfulcheerful

Personally, I just love how they used the landscapes of New Zealand. Absolutely gorgeous.

I've always found the Gollum scenes uncomfortable to watch. Of course, that's probably because they're supposed to be that way.

You DID NOT just say that Sam and Frodo are boring!?!?! I must have misread...

Well, no, they're not boring. Just ... all the scenes with them are ...

That's some hella dry eroticism, if you ask me. A lot of walkin' for not much wigglin', if you know what I mean.

yeah, it's all Victorian style want and lust without any action.

I'm sad, my friend. Very, very sad.

I knew it would be a controversial position.

I'll get over it eventually. Just like I'll be 40 someday. It will happen. I still love you and I'll try not to hold it against you for too long.

Ever since I have read their very secret diaries, they are much more titillating!

Heretical, but entertaining :)

But what about skipping all of the elvish poetry?
Will O'the Wispwotw on December 18th, 2009 01:19 am (UTC)
If you skip all the *other* boring scenes, you can get through the whole thing in about ten minutes.
ruthless compassion: happyaroraborealis on December 18th, 2009 02:50 am (UTC)
Oh, if you include the scenery shots, there's like 20 or 30 good minutes between the three movies.

That would be the 10 minutes in which Legolas gets scary-ass with his bow, yes?

I read all of Tolkien's available/published output first when I was about 14. I've re-read all of it many many many times. But I'd have to agree, those occasions of just Frodo & Sam, or Frodo / Sam / Gollum were parts that I was fairly willing to skip over in re-reading. Integral to the story, I believe, but incredibly slow-moving.
