hot chocolate: Zing and Diesel
I'm falling behind on the hot chocolate project! Two updates:

First, because thus far the list provided by boston.com is so disappointing, I'm branching out so as to be able to provide a more trustworthy (well, of course I'd say so) top ten list sometime later in the year. So I had the spicy hot chocolate at Cafe Zing in Porter Square books. This hot chocolate was both chocolatey and spicy, though I thought it could have used more of each. The flavors were well balanced with each other, though, and overall, it was a very satisfying cup of hot chocolate. B

Then, from the original boston.com list, I had the "Tuck's Turtle" caramely hot chocolate at Diesel Cafe in Davis. This was rich and tasty and extremely sweet. I have a pretty major sweet tooth, so I really liked it, but for anyone with a more moderate taste in sweet, this would be well over the top. It could have been more chocolatey, but it was pretty respectable. B+

Have you tried the mexican hot chocolate at Simon's (Porter Square-ish)? Pascal likes it.

No, but Simon's is on my list of places to try! I'll take Pascal's recommendation.

I like the Cafe Zing spicy cocoa quite a bit. Interestingly, it has varied, at times quite a bit (spiciness, cocoa depth, but not sweetness). I've never had it such that I haven't liked it; it's just been different on most occasions to my memory from the previous time that I had it.

I *love* Simon's as a cafe, in general; but their cocoa is the one thing that I haven't had any success with! I'll be curious to hear what you think.

And finally, I'm still up for visiting Sofra with you sometime; I think you already have a Burdick's companion lined up? That would have been my other (absolutely favorite, with Sofra in second place) nomination.

I'm definitely interested in seeing the experiment as it continues to develop. :)

Mmm. I always ordered the Tuck's Turtle light on chocolate, to suit my own preferred chocolate balance. Wish I could be having one now!
