Like in past years, I'll be taking this week as an opportunity to give thanks every day to some of the great blessings in the world. I invite you to join me if you're so inclined.
Today, I'm grateful for quiet moments between the rush and bustle of life. Too much down time and it can become a burden or a bad habit, but I love the moment when I step out of a party into the cold darkness and feel my lungs get bigger and all the whirl of my mind goes quiet, just briefly. I love the stolen hour on the couch with a book and music, or taking the long way home to enjoy the last moments of sunshine in the afternoon. It's those minutes when I arrive first at the bar and can sit and look at the strangers in my world, or when I'm waiting for the bus but I'm not in a rush, and all I have to do is just be.
