Do you have a favorite tequila? What is it, and why?

My favorite of th past year has been the Herradura Repesado. It's sort of like the french-press coffee of tequila in flavor... in that it tastes a little "dirty" in the good way, a lot of musky, earthy flavors in swirling around in a bright over-all experience.

But I would like to formally and publicly state that my bottle of said tequila, which I received as a birthday present last year, is all but totally kicked, and I am quite interested in exploring new favorites, while re-newing and re-freshing that relationship as well!

My favorite tequila is whatever I'm drinking when I do body shots off of you. :)

I'm not a tequila guy usually but for this...yeah

the reposado is complex without being too whiskey like. Plenty of distinctly tequila flavors.

I had the anejo years ago and remember it being fantastic, a bit more on the whiskey side but still quite smooth. That was years ago though and I'm not sure that my memory is accurate.

Oh yea, and it comes in neat bottles with skeletons on it :-)

My current favorite is Hornitos Añejo, for the combination of a relatively low price and a completely enjoyable drinking experience -- smooth, caramelly, and just a little bitey. I also really like the reposado from Hornitos

My favorite is the Hornitos Reposado. Not sure I've tried their Anejo or Plata, though I should.

I have yet to fall in love with tequila, but I keep some around (mostly for guests). My default brand is Herradura blanco, which is smooth and well-made and works well in cocktails.

So far, Don Julio Reposado.

So yummy.

I have a few on my to-try list, mostly that have won various awards over the last year. Now that you so helpfully finished off that pretty bottle I can move on to the next one!

In the name of science and discovery of my favorite brand, i would totally submit myself to a mezcal tasting.

Then you definitely need to visit Mezcal in Worcester, where the mezcal list isn't as long as the tequila list but is still not to be sneezed at :)

Patron Silver is how I learned that $50-a-bottle tequila really is way the hell better than $15-a-bottle tequila. Smoooooooth.

Cafe Petrone.

I don't have a favorite yet, but now I'm feeling like I need to test some of these! So, who's hosting the tequila tasting party? ;)

I don't know if they still do it, but Les Zygomates used to do a tequila tasting two or three times a year.

Patron Silver is my favorite, to date. It's smooth, it's clean and it doesn't give me a hangover.

...plus a few small terms involving cost, whether the bottle is plastic or not, and whether or not it came from the local CVS.

Interesting. That's a lot like your favorite ice cream, too, iirc.

Hee hee. I cannot imagine liking tequila at all. Or really, any other alcohol. 5 year old palate; it only wants things like ice cream, mashed potatos, and cookies. :(

That being said, when I *drink*, it's whiskey, and I'll have cheap tequila with Booty Vortex. :)
