finger foods
When you were little, did you like to put black olives and/or raspberries on your fingers like bizarre press-on nails and then eat them one by one?

Now that you're older and have grotesquely overgrown fingers, olives and raspberries don't really work as well. What do you use instead of olives and raspberries?

Bigger olives. Lychees after you've sucked the pit out. More, but I'm sleepy....

Oranges. When you can pull out that center rind piece, it fits nicely on an adult sized finger!

I totally used to do this with black olives.

I don't remember my hands being small enough to do it with raspberries – and my parents have raspberries in their backyard, so we had raspberries a lot :) (But actually, maybe that's the point, that we had wild raspberries which tend to be much smaller.)

I loved doing this with black olives.

Nowadays, calamari and/or whole baby squid works well, and black olives still on my smaller fingers.

Have you stuck whole baby squid on your fingers recently and I've missed it????? I think I might love you.
mirandamissionista on January 14th, 2011 06:06 pm (UTC)
It wasn't very recent, so you didn't miss it. And don't you love me anyway? *sobs*

Black olives, yes! I've never stopped.

I must admit that I've never quite gotten the knack of doing it reliably without biting my fingers. I'm too enthusiastic in my eating. (Could be clumsiness, but I prefer the first attribution. *grin*)

Neither of those, but my brother and I had a whole game around putting onion flavored bisli on our fingers and eating them one by one. I miss bisli. The stuff they make for export that you can buy in a few places in the US isn't nearly as flavorful.

My sister and I used Bugle Snacks.

Because they are conical, they fit a wide variety of finger-sizes from child to adult.
