I really like Howard Schatz's photography, and this set is one of my favorites. I am going to acquire that book this year.

That was very educational- may share that with Mom and hopefully she will show her students- especially the ones who do the graphic novel class.

I figure anyone's an athlete if they raise their heart rate and are somewhat or entirely single minded at improving at their activity.

Aimee Mullins. I had to go back and look at all the photos to find her, because the comments refer to the "disabled athletes." (I still don't know where the plural comes from.)

(I am completely agreed that, particularly given the goal of expressing the range of athletic body types, the inclusion of more disabled athletes in an artist's reference set is essential.)

Oh hey, I didn't even notice her (on slow wireless connection, didn't expand all the pictures). But yeah, more diversity better!

hmm. actually there are some of the obviously-disabled (amputees) in those pictures, and of course not all disabilities are visible....

the set you pointed to rocks :)

I only found Aimee Mullins -- who else did you notice?

hm, you may be right -- i saw joseph chebet and thought those were prostheses, but upon enlarging the picture, no, probably just the way his legs look!

THANK YOU. love it.

i know many, many people who are athletes, who don't "look" it. who are catchers and bases who are my size, flyers who "shouldn't be." according to whom? if you can catch, you're a catcher. if you can fly, you're a flyer.

there's no "looks it." either you do it, or you don't. i feel like an effing nike commercial. thanks for posting this :)
