FUCKING HIPSTERS ARRRRRRRRRRR. Sorry but the sight of that dudes glasses in the picture sends me into a nice frothy rage. How about instead of serving " amuse-bouche of fluke crudo with bone marrow mayonnaise and trout roe" to a bunch of trust fund snowflakes they do something actually useful, like donating food to a pantry or spending an hour in a soup kitchen.

Fair point.

OTOH, lots of people donate food to pantries. No one has ever hosted a six course meal on the subway before. It's kind of the Everest of food management. They do it because it's never been done.

On the one hand, you're totally right about this. On the other hand, I think it's important and valuable to have this kind of crazy creativity in the world, too. We don't strike the right balance here in the US (or anywhere that I know of), but I don't want to give up the sparkle of life in favor of pure utilitarianism, either.
