tiny houses
Last night, metagnat introduced me to Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. Browsing their website immediately went on my list of activities to help me destress. Looking at these sweet, tiny homes gives me that pleasant, wonderful heartache of nostalgia for a combination of the past and the imagined future.

I'm especially enamored of the Fencl, which is jammed full of as much light as you can imagine.

Seriously in love!

Why oh why are there no open spaces in S'ville* where I could put such a thing?! I'd do it.

*Being the most densely populated etc, that's what I'm assuming, anyway.

So cute! I think I'd seen these before, but had forgotten (a) how wonderful they were, and (b) about them entirely. Thank you for sharing!

Little domiciles have always made me happy too. I'm still fantasizing about a vintage Airstream, but these might be a more satisfying (if slightly less mobile) substitute.

I'm picturing taking one of these to Bman, now. Or maybe just camping. :)

Adorbs! But this is weird: "Because of its tiny size, it doesn’t meet the minimum size standards required for houses on a foundation. It is also too large to be built as a shed."

Because of the sizing problem a number of owners put them in their backyards as their own homes, and rent out the "big house" for income.

And in states, including Vermont, you can build whatever you want for a home, no permitting needed (except for the driveway).

I love that site. I always have fun looking through the different styles.

With a pair of suspenders, I could wear most of those houses.

I remember watching a video about one of those, and the resident said that he grew up in a 4000 sq. ft. house, and he wanted a "more luxurious life". That really resonated with me.

Oh, and have you read "The Not-So-Big House"? I found the second book, "Creating the Not-So-Big House" more interesting than the first, because the first is more of a manifesto and I was already manifested. There are many examples of smaller adorableness in both.

I have been peeking at these and dreaming about them for months (years?) now. Sigh.
