new mug
I received an athenahealth mug when I started working here, which is what I've been using for coffee and tea ...

But it only holds 12oz of liquid (and that's when it's filled to the rim), and it turns out, that's annoyingly not enough. I'd prefer something that holds at least 16oz, and preferably 24oz. Also, it's boring.

I want something pretty, and sturdy, and large. Do you have a favorite place to shop for handmade pottery in the Boston area? I could turn to etsy, but I'd love to find something this weekend if I can.
I'm feeling: chipperchipper

You could go to one of those "paint your own pottery" stores. This would take a little longer than just buying it off the rack, but it'd be fun.

I was going to suggest that, too.

I wonder if the handmade-pretty-things place in Porter, right next to CVS, has mugs...

That was my second suggestion ;)

+, Mudflat is a local studio supporting the local arts community and all that jazz.

I really like Peter Grams pottery, which I think you can get at Blue Cloud. I normally buy it directly off of him at the Harvard Square craft festival.

Yes, PG's pottery is at Blue Cloud (way in the back on the right). I love his round mugs that get narrower at the top, because they keep your tea warm longer.

I got my 20oz mug from Goodwill (after the cleaning people at work broke the huge mug I'd bought in London)... but I second the vote for Mudflat in Porter Sq (same building as CVS, same space as Sign of the Dove) if you're looking for something handmade.

Blue Cloud, next to True Grounds, sometimes has some lovely pottery.
