most ridiculous pet
What would be the most ridiculous animal to have as a pet?
I'm feeling: chipperchipper

i just read a book called 'providence of a sparrow' that makes me vote for the house sparrow :)

I have a friend who had a skunk, and that worked surprisingly well. Still, it was de-scented, so I'll vote for "Un-de-scented skunk".

My brother adopted an orphaned baby skunk for a while, until it was eventually taken in by a professional rehabilitator. It was the sweetest thing. Loved to snuggle. Never once sprayed us.

My mother had a pet skunk in college, but de-scented. She too said it was a really sweet creature, if dumb as a bag of rocks.

A large whale would be pretty ridiculous.

A mayfly, maybe? That would at least have some component of educational value, though.

She did say "animal". If she'd said "organism" I might've suggested an amoeba.

That was my first thought, too. Upon further consideration, I think the answer might a tarsier, though.

Humans make terrible pets.

I went both ways...
My first thought was a whale followed by a hummingbird...

Re: I went both ways...
She said one pet, not two. Or are the whale and the hummingbird somehow connected...?

Based on behaviour here earlier this evening with included falling off the bar in an attempt to get petted, stalking and attacking a doorknob and then running away from it in fear, and stealing 3 ounces of cake, my vote goes for cats.

I mean, you can get ridiculous in theory, and you can get ridiculous in *fact*....

One of the Australian Irukandji jellyfish that will make you feel like you're dying if you touch it (and possibly send you into a coma where you are STILL SCREAMING) - but which is too tiny to see easily.
